Find New Uses for Serveware

Well friends, I now have another military move under my belt.  That brings the total to seven military moves in the nine years I've been married to my amazing husband.  I normally enjoy moving.  It's a wonderful opportunity to let my OCD tendencies run free as I unpack and organize every closet and cabinet throughout the house.  This move, however, has me cringing at the sight of a new box that has to be unpacked and put away.  Something about having two young boys (that get into EVERYTHING) has drained me of sanity and energy.  I now understand why some people hate moving.
I keep asking myself as we're unpacking the never ending pile of boxes, "why do we have so much stuff". Through the years I've gained serving pieces and specialty items for events that I'm not ready to part with just yet.  However, by using these items in other ways than what they were originally intended for, I'm getting more use out of them and saving money and space (which I'm running out of as more boxes are unpacked).  Looking for ideas to reuse the items you already have on hand?  Here's a few ideas to get you started.

Use glasses, baskets, or tins as a utensil caddy.  To add some height, this caddy got a lift from another metal bucket turned upside down.

This drink dispenser is perfect for dispensing bubbles at a birthday party or outdoor play date.

  1. I love how you creatively use household items for parties and events! You gave the the idea of using margarita or martini glasses for party condiments etc, it saves you space on your party table as well!
