Football Fever

As soon as the days get a little shorter and the nights get a little colder, I start getting antsy for Saturdays filled with college football.   My husband’s family are Auburn fans, but my family comes from a long line of hardcore Alabama fans.  So it should be no surprise that he was forced over to the dark side when we got married.

Don’t worry if you’re not a Bama fan.   You can customize this tablescape using your team’s colors and mascots to create a fun spread to enjoy during the game.   My favorite part is the “turf like” centerpiece made from three containers of wheat grass wrapped with cardstock and a foam coaster attached to the center.   It’s such a simple decoration, but really helps draw the eyes to the center of the table.   I wanted to add a little height so I dug out a cake pedestal for the chips bucket and stacked two metal tins to create a utensil caddy.

All that was left to add was some great food and close friends.  I'm on a "popcorn served in cups" kick lately.  It's so rare that you grab just a small handful of popcorn, so it just makes sense to me to serve it in a "to go" container.   Overall, we had a great time digging into our favorite football foods and watching the Crimson Tide win!! Roll Tide!
