Kid's Thanksgiving Sensory Bucket

Last Halloween, my wonderful friend introduced me to sensory buckets.  She always has the most clever projects planned for play dates.  At the time the kids were between 1 and 2 years old and they were thoroughly engaged for more than half an hour.   I consider that a successful activity!
So for Thanksgiving this year, I made a bucket for the toddlers to play with before dinner.  I highly recommend playing with the bucket outside but if you need to move it indoors just place a tarp or blanket under the bucket to catch any escaping kernels.  Simply pour all the items into the bin and add some measuring cups as "digging" tools.  This fun activity can be assembled quickly and will have the kids digging and exploring for hours.

Materials:
Any large container without holes (I used a Tupperware container but you can use a storage bin, an aluminum roasting pan, serving tray, or whatever you have on hand)
Popcorn kernels (it took 4 bags to fill up this container)
Pine cones (Michaels: I found a stem of three and cut the stem off)
Bag of feathers
Pom Poms
Measuring cups, spoons, small cups, etc.
